The Reproductive System
When I first started putting this website together I
used to check my position regularly in each of the search engines and how
the site looked in each of the browsers. On one such check I discovered that
my site was blocked by cyber patrol for having sexual content! The offending
section was the dictionary because it listed symbols that indicated the
reproductive system. I removed the offending entries and they are still
missing from that section today. I'm now writing this page knowing well that
it will be blocked in some browser configurations for being 'offensive'. That
in itself is relevant because it is one of the issues that dreams about the
reproductive system often raise.
Have you ever left the children with their grandparents and
gone off for a dirty weekend? Even those of us who consider ourselves
liberated would still use that expression. Is sex dirty then? As obvious descendants
of a line of people who have had sex are we all unclean? It is rare to come across anyone who can talk openly about sex
without either feeling embarrassed or scrutinized. For this very reason dreams
refer to the reproductive system for one of two main reasons; to give us a
health warning or to ask us to improve our view of sex or our sexuality.
Sexual Discrimination
In Ireland it is fair to say that many workplaces do not
have equal status for women. When I was younger women had to leave their job
when they got married! Thinking about that now it seems so outrageous. My own
children will grow up oblivious to that ever being part of Irish society. We
have moved on but have not let it go fully1. Many women feel that they have to
work twice as hard in business just to be given the same breaks as a man doing
the same job. During a radio interview Mary called in with a dream that
revealed that very problem. You can listen to that part of the interview here
if you are interested. In her dream she found herself doing up a new bedroom
she had just designed. The bedroom had two small bedrooms (the ovaries) off a
large communal area (the uterus). In her own words, 'There was nothing
exquisite about it'. The dream was asking Mary to improve her view of her femininity and to accept
the design of the body she had. While there may be truth to having difficulty
competing in a 'man's world' that is never a reason for blaming your gender.
The problem is with society and not with reproductive organs. Left unchecked
this negative view of her femininity could lead to health problems in the area
being targeted by all the negative thoughts. This would become a self
fulfilling prophecy since having a uterus has caused her nothing but problems in the first
place!
The Doorway from the Spirit World
Far
from being nothing exquisite it is the most remarkable gift we have. Women are
the doorway between the spirit world and the physical world. There is only one
way for a soul to get onto this planet and that is through a woman's body. As
a society we clearly don't give pregnancy and childbirth the respect they
deserve. If bringing a soul onto the planet is worthy of respect then so too
is the act which starts the process off. If you have been brought up to
believe that sex is dirty you might find yourself in your dreams with your
partner cleaning a black stain off the carpet in the bedroom. Things underfoot
in dreams often represent what we must overcome. The black stain is asking the
dreamer to overcome their feelings of guilt with regard to the sexual act (in
a bedroom with your partner).
Sex being regarded as dirty can also lead to the parts
of the body that distinguish gender being regarded as unclean. Dreams which
show an unclean vessel such as a dirty bathtub, dirty bottles or a barrel of
unclean water would indicate this. We can also adopt a negative view of our
gender if our parents were unhappy with our gender at birth.
A woman holding up young boy's black briefs in the bedroom
would indicate that she picked up a negative attitude (black clothing) towards her gender
(boys briefs) at the time of her birth (indicated in a dream by holding up an object and
inspecting it) because her parents were disappointed with her gender. While
her parents may quickly move on from their disappointment it is not so easy for the young child. She will shun the part of
herself that her parents found fault with and in later life may develop a problem
(psychological or physical) in this area unless something is done to correct the
imbalance.
Sexual Communication
John, who has difficulty with sexual
communication, dreamt of trying to talk to his partner
on a telephone that was connected to a photocopier in the bedroom of a hotel.
He discovered the
lead connecting the phone to the copier was broken. A maid is busy cleaning. The
communication problem is clearly indicated by the phone connection while the
bedroom links the problem with sexuality. The photocopier is a little trickier
to figure out but when you think of the function of this device it becomes
clear. Essentially a photocopier reproduces images so is therefore a
reproductive system and it symbolizes this in a dream.
Dreams don't just point out problems. They also show
their cause and the solution. The hotel in John's dream above tells him
that the problem goes back to his reception at birth. He needs to eliminate
this negative influence (the maid cleaning) in order to improve his
communication problem. Cutting the ties
that bind with his mother would be appropriate.
Dreams do not have to take place in the bedroom
to be about the reproductive system. The most common symbol which can appear
in any location and still be about reproduction is a mirror. A mirror
reproduces an image of you so is therefore a reproductive device. Other common
devices which show up in dreams are cameras, fax machines and photocopiers as
already seen.
Problems Conceiving
Sharon dreamt of a problem with the wing mirror of her
Morris Minor car. The mirror alone tells us the dream is about the
reproductive system and a close examination backs this up. First the word Minor
is a pun on child and secondly the car in question is out of production.
All this warns Sharon about problems with having children (she can't
reproduce minors).
Our sexual energy is the most creative energy we have. We can clearly see its
ability to create life. Its creative ability, however, is not limited and is
used in any creative act. Writing, art, music, poetry, sculpture, etc. are all
acts of creation and take on a life of their own once created. As such
difficulties working in your creative area can be linked back to the
reproductive system in your dreams. Mary's dream above is a good example. Her
business venture will run more smoothly if she removes the artificial
limitations she has placed on her creative center (her negative view of her
reproductive system).
Red is linked to the reproductive system and used to heal
it in dreams. It is the color of passion and also revitalizes the body. To dream
of a thin red border on your partner's dress would indicate your passion is
borderline in the relationship. In such dreams you will also be shown why and
how to resolve the problem. This brings me to an important point. While future
relationships are guaranteed to improve when you remove blocks indicated by your
dreams, your existing relationship may suffer! This will be covered in a future
article about relationships.
Jane dreamed she was mixing two packets of tomato soup.
The red color of the passion fruit links this to the reproductive system. I have
seen this a number of times in dreams and it has always been from women who were
having problems conceiving or carrying a pregnancy past a few weeks. In Jane's
case the problem with conception is linked to a mucous (soup) being created in
the uterus. This mucous attaches to the egg that is released and hinders
conception and subsequent attachment of the embryo to the uterus. The mucous can
also get into the ovaries affecting the corpus luteum and its part in preventing
the normal menstrual cycle. In Jane's case the link is made to
eating and the elimination system (bowl). This means that toxins getting into
the blood stream from the colon are targeting the uterus. Improving diet
and elimination will help resolve the problem.
Red is also the color of anger (red with anger) but this
is only the case when the energy is coming from the wrong center. When you move
anger down to the base chakra it is no longer negative. Energy simply is and how
and from where it is expressed determines its properties. Anger (red energy) moved to the base
chakra is at the correct location to be used creatively.
Symbols
The following symbols indicate the
reproductive system for the reasons given.
| Bedroom |
An obvious symbol for the
reproductive system. |
| Mirror, photocopier, camera |
These devices are reproductive systems
themselves. The photocopier and camera are for obvious reasons. The mirror reproduces an
image of whoever is looking into it. |
| Unclean vessel |
This symbol is not as obvious as the previous
ones. It indicates a dreamer who does not respect their reproductive system. Often the
cause is that the dreamer is conditioned to regard sex as dirty at a young age. Therefore
the parts of their body which distinguish their gender are regarded as unclean or dirty.
Typical examples would be dirty bottles, dirty bath tub, a barrel of unclean water, etc.. |
| Garden trees, harvest field |
A garden tree (especially in the
front garden) is indicative of the family tree. As a symbol it may often appear along with
flowers. A harvest field is indicative of a reproductive cycle. |
| Animals / rabbits (especially with young) |
Reproduction is part of our animal nature.
Rabbits in particular are often associated with reproduction. |
| Oven |
Ingredients are carefully blended / mixed and
placed in the oven. With deliberate care and attention the mixture matures and is
transformed into a creation in its own right. We also have the expression that someone who
is pregnant has a bun in the oven. |
| Eggs, hen house, seedlings, potted plants |
Eggs indicate eggs in the ovaries. A hen house
indicates the ovaries themselves. Seedlings and potted plants indicate new growth. |
| Puns on Gynecological,
gate lodge |
A gate lodge is a good symbol of the womb.
Remember that you are everything in the dream. So a gate lodge is a small lodge in the
grounds of a larger house. The larger house indicates yours or mother's body and the gate
lodge indicates the womb. You were once a lodger in your mother's body! |
| Front door of house |
This represents the vagina (the front
door to the body). This is the main symbol missing from the dictionary
due to automated censorship by popular web watching packages!
|
| Hallway |
The hallway behind the front door
represents the uterus. Being chased down a hallway by a woman with a
scissors indicates mother considered abortion while pregnant. |
| Box room |
A small box room at the end of a
hallway can represent the uterus. |
