The Answer to your Dreams 12

In this section I interpret more dreams from the mailbag. In keeping with the theme from my last column, The Spiritual Dimension of Dreams Part V, I've included some dreams that cover those spiritual gifts. 

In the first dream below you'll see how Catherine is affected negatively due to lack of support from her father in childhood. This seems on the surface to be a problem created by dad but for Catherine that's not the case. It was planned in advance! So why would anyone plan a life with this problem? The answer is simple. We come here to remove negative traits that we already have while in spirit. From her dream we can tell that Catharine doubts herself. This is a trait she already had in spirit so she devised a life where she could overcome this problem. However, to overcome it she first needed a way to develop the same problem in human form. That's where dad comes in. Catharine and her dad entered into an agreement in spirit that he would help her to develop in human form the negative trait she already had in spirit. Once developed she can then work on eliminating it. If dad didn't help her to develop the problem she would possibly fail in one of her goals in life. 

From our perspective it can be difficult to tell whether events are planned or are a divergence from our path. Being able to ask your guides is one of the great uses of channelling. Anyway, let's look at the dream.

SANDI'S DREAM: I was in a hotel and there was a pool.  There were people in the pool, I remember at least one adult (I think Asian) and one kid.  I wanted to go in the pool but every couple of minutes or so a large marine animal, like a whale or killer whale or something, swam about in the pool, making huge splashes.  It was supposed to be there, but I thought it looked dangerous and was concerned for the kid.  I was with people, don't remember who,  but I had the feeling that I got along with them.  Something happened and there was tons and tons of water everywhere.  I got washed down a ways, against a building with lots of windows.

INTERPRETATION: You are being asked to begin using your channelling gift. The pool (body of water) represents your spiritual side but because it is a pool it means you currently do not have an outlet for it. The channelling is given by the killer whale symbol. That also tells us why you are not using the gift. You are afraid of it. The other people in the pool are there to encourage you to get into it. Don't be afraid of the whale. The windows also indicate you are psychic. They are two different gifts but it is not uncommon to see a person with both of them as they complement each other nicely. The hotel means that your reception at birth is what allowed you to bring this channelling gift with you when being born. Life was unpleasant enough that you kept one foot in the spirit world. It is this act that makes a person a channel. Since you are not Asian his presence means that you see this gift as foreign - i.e. can't quite relate to it. The water washing you down a ways also shows up the unpleasant emotional event at the start of your life. But even when showing this event you are reminded that you are here to use your spiritual gifts - the windows.

COMMENT: It is very common to see fear in dreams about channelling even when the dreamer feels that they are not afraid of it. While this dream does not show sometimes the fear comes from persecution for using that gift in a past life. It isn’t that long ago that police used to raid séances! Further back, of course, you would even be drowned or burned for having such an ability. Fear in this life can come from the mere idea that you are talking to the dead. That is how we view them but spirits themselves would disagree with the ‘dead’ bit! Ask yourself if you have a soul. Will that soul live on when your body dies? If that is the case why not view it the other way around. Instead of being a body with a soul you are soul with a body. The soul is the real you. That is why developing your spiritual abilities is the most important thing you can do while here. It is getting you in touch with who / what you really are. A much more powerful being than you realise. Anyway, if you are a soul then communication with other souls is natural rather than supernatural. You just happen to be in a body while doing it. Sandi’s next step is to overcome her fear of using her gift.

MARY'S DREAM: I’m in a room with Mary Robinson, the president of Ireland. There’s a bed on a raised platform and her husband is lying on the bed on his right side leaning on his right elbow. His head is resting in his open palm.

INTERPRETATION: Mary Robinson on her own in a dream is enough to say you are a spiritual leader. Her being president indicates this, however, she also would be a perfect role model for anyone as she is a true spiritual leader herself. This gift works through our female side but you tend to use your male side (husband in dream and him leaning on his right). Give more prominence to your spiritual side (raised bed) and listen to your female side (husband has his right ear covered).

COMMENT: I liked this dream the moment I heard it. A strong message is given in the dream without any words being spoken. This in itself is female energy in operation and that is what Mary is being encouraged to tune into. It is also quite common for guides in dreams to give their advice this way. While he doesn’t speak he is showing Mary what she is doing and what to change simply by adopting the posture he is in. The bed in the dream being on a raised platform tells us the dream is about the spiritual dimension. This is an unusual symbol to indicate this which is another reason I like this dream. Most people are unaware that they enter the spirit world while their body sleeps.

MICHAEL'S DREAM: I am in a train carriage. The train is black and orange. There is only one window high up on the wall to my left. Through it I can see women in purple leotards doing aerobics on another train. Every so often I sense a spirit in the carriage. Each time it passes by me and goes through a double door with a skeleton drawn across both doors. The left half of the skeleton is drawn on the right door and vice versa. Briefly while the spirit passes through the door the skeleton flashes like an x-ray and is shown correctly. The train is moving and the door cannot be opened normally – only the spirit can do it! This happens a number of times. 

The trains stops at a platform. I follow a woman I work with who leads me off the train onto the platform and to the entrance of the next carriage. The entrance does not have a door and is quite narrow. It is like I have no energy and it takes all the energy I have to pull myself back onto the train. I nearly couldn’t do it but once back on the train my strength returned. I notice a doorway between the carriage I was just on and this one. I wonder why I didn’t come that way.

INTERPRETATION: While you were in your mother’s womb (the carriage with only one window) you had a number of brushes with death (the spirits passing). This method allowed you to bring some particular gifts with you into this world. Psychic surgery – indicated by the skeleton and x-ray. You also have the ability to sense when spirits are around as you do in the dream. Lastly, you are a spiritual teacher, as indicated by the women wearing purple. You are mostly being asked to exercise the spiritual teaching gift at this time (the women are exercising). The color of the train means you are to have a career in this field.

Changing carriages the way you do in the dream and nearly not making it shows you were born by caesarean section and nearly died at birth.

COMMENT: This is my dream and is about 15 years old. It is the one responsible for me deciding to learn how to interpret dreams myself. I submitted this dream to the group in the very first class I attended with George Rhatigan. I only went along to keep my sister company and didn’t really have any interest myself. The interpretation floored me so much that I threw myself into learning how to interpret dreams myself. The people in the group didn’t know it was my dream but they were so accurate. My mother was 44 when she learned she was pregnant with me. Not wanting a ninth baby she went out to dig the garden hoping to induce a miscarriage. It didn’t work but she ended up bleeding and for the last four months of her pregnancy had to stay in bed to avoid a miscarriage. I was born by cecarian section at 7 months. Expecting me not to make it a priest baptised me immediately. I am grateful now to my mother for enduring what she did so that I could bring these gifts and the gift of channelling with me.

COMMENT: It is very common for 'would be' channels to be afraid of the gift. This comes from one main source but the fact that it is almost always demonised in Hollywood movies. The fear comes from being persecuted for using the gift in a previous life. You don't have to go back many years to find witch hunts in the west. Any gift you see in your dreams in this life is a gift you developed and used in a former life. As a channel in a former life you are most likely to have been persecuted.
