The Answer to your Dreams 8

In this section I interpret your dreams from the mailbag. In keeping with the theme from last week, Color in Dreams, I've picked dreams with colors. This should make it more interesting to follow. Let's have a look.

SHELLY'S DREAMS: I noticed your definition of dreaming of black and gray have negative connotations. However, I often dream of these colors with a positive feeling. For example: being given a gift of a gray cashmere dress, or being sheltered from the pouring rain with a large black umbrella, or being given a black silk banner which will help me get through the "traffic". Also you mention the "polluting" of colors - such as dark blue (blue and black) I often dream of male characters wearing dark blue (either jackets or jumpers) usually mixed with a lighter blue such as wearing a blue shirt or jeans. But these characters are usually positive - at least they appear that way to me. Initially I found it confusing, but I also think one ultimately must learn to trust one's own instincts and intuition when interpreting a dream.

INTERPRETATION: Looking at the scenarios you give me they break down as follows 

1. Being given a gray cashmere dress: You deny your emotions as a means of protecting yourself from being hurt. This trait was copied from your mother if a woman gave you the dress or your father if it was a man. 
2. Sheltered from the pouring rain with a large black umbrella: Rain represents life and in dreams it is good to let yourself get wet as protecting yourself from it means you protect yourself from life (shelter yourself). The black would indicate the sheltering is being done out of fear. 
3. Being given a black silk banner which will help me get through the traffic: Traffic represents career so in this case the black banner would have to do with 'title' or recognition being perceived as necessary for succeeding in career. Or being driven to achieve recognition - along those lines.
4. I often dream of male characters wearing dark blue usually mixed with a lighter blue such as wearing a blue shirt or jeans. But these characters are usually positive: You are being asked to lighten your philosophy of life and become more positive

COMMENT: In Shelly's dreams we see light colors mixed with darker ones. This is common. The lighter colors are often there as an antidote for the darker ones. Colors are one of the few areas where the interpretation is very clear. The interpretation of dream colors is exactly the same as the interpretation of colors in the aura. In dreams black has absolutely no redeeming features - just like black in an aura. That does not mean liking black as a color is negative - that's a completely different thing. The language of dreams must be learned like any other language. You would not expect your intuition to allow you speak German on your first attempt. I used to think it would be so much easier if dreams came to us in our native language but having studied them for years I am still amazed at the depth of information they can convey in a simple image. Their language is elegant and not restrictive. I encourage you to be like Shelly and question everything you come across - especially in the spiritual field as there is no use in just taking information in blindly.
