The Answer to your Dreams 3

In my column on July 2, 2000 I ran a survey on whether dreams concerning femininity should be covered in the newsletter. Thanks to everyone who participated in the survey. I’m glad to say the response was overwhelmingly in favor of covering them, with less than 1% against. The survey results are given here.

As a consequence I’m covering a dream sent in about loose teeth. This is a common theme in dreams so I know lots of you will be looking forward to seeing what it means. See Dawn’s dream.

ANGELA’S DREAM: I was looking at a wedding in a church. The groom was dressed in black and white and his head was missing.

INTERPRETATION: Your dad has a black and white attitude towards relationships and has a tendency to loose his head. You have picked this up to some degree.

COMMENT: As children we view our parents as infallible. They can do no wrong and we want to be just like them. This is true regardless of what problems they have. As adults we can usually see their weaknesses but this does not remove the years of ‘training’ we received before we could rationalize. This can cause us problems but the system is designed so that this happens. Spiritually it may be intended that we adopt traits from our parents so that we can learn more about ourselves through being that way. When the time is right dreams will point out the traits that need to be eliminated and why. In Angela’s case the black and white view of relationships learned from dad causes her to lose her head with men and subconsciously kill her relationships. Angela’s next step is to cut the ties with dad.

DAWN’S DREAM: I was in a room with my fiancé and we were having a deep conversation when my teeth started falling out one by one.

INTERPRETATION: Your dream is about losing the ability to have children (indicated by losing teeth). To overcome this you need to get closer to your partner. Work on getting a deeper understanding of each other’s feelings. Then ask yourself if you want to have a child with your partner. Anxiety over having children can trigger this type of dream. Your dream shows the problem can be resolved.

COMMENT: Animals carry their young around with their teeth so in dreams teeth represent the ability to have or rear children. Dawn tells me that she already had one miscarriage. On the surface it would appear that this dream has not revealed why she has developed a problem in this area. However, when there are so few symbols it’s hard to go wrong. We must look to the fiancé in the dream. A deeper shared understanding is required for her to commit to having children.

This is just one of many dreams I receive each month with the theme of teeth falling out. Many times people consider their young age to mean it cannot be about problems having children. Remember that dreams alert you to problems in advance while there is plenty of time to prevent them from developing.

BRIGITTE’S DREAM: I dreamt I was sitting my high school exams again.

INTERPRETATION: Another common theme in dreams. This means that, in a spiritual context, you have completed one phase of your life and are ready to move onto the next. It is always a good dream to receive.

COMMENT: Our purpose here is to increase our awareness through learning about ourselves. To do this we may have several aspects of ourselves we wish to develop. When the time is right to begin developing another aspect we have dreams like this to show us we are ready to move on to the next stage or higher learning. Brigitte’s next step is to allow change.

PATRICK’S DREAM: I’m with my friend in his sports car on the motorway. I’m drinking a can of beer. The car is unresponsive. Every so often the car gets its power back and goes faster. I figure out that this only happens when I hold the beer outside the window. We are both amazed at this. As an experiment I drop the beer out the window and the car roars off with full power.

INTERPRETATION: Your dream is asking you to give up alcohol (drop beer) as it inhibits your body’s natural healing (sports car). Once you do this your body will be restored to health (regain its power). It is unlikely that you will do this right now but you will eventually ‘figure it out’ for yourself.

COMMENT: Buildings and cars are the most common symbols used to indicate the physical body. In these dreams we are shown that we are an occupant of our body and are responsible for its care. In reality Patrick suffers from crones disease and has an intolerance to many food items. Here he is shown that alcohol inhibits his body’s natural healing which would make his suffering worse. Patrick’s next step is to drop the alcohol.

MICHAEL’S DREAM: I’m sitting behind the driver on a large red and white bus. I point out something on the floor to the left of the driver and he leaves his seat to get it. The bus is still driving in traffic! The bus driver sits back into his seat facing me and I panic because I think we’re going to hit a similar bus in front that is turning right. I reach forward and steer the bus around the turn. All the time the driver is implying that he can’t steer the bus the way he’s sitting.

INTERPRETATION: You can’t steer your direction in life while looking to the past (driver with his back to the wheel). The dream is bringing you joy and hope (red and white) for the future (turning right) particularly with regard to your career path (traffic). Don’t be distracted by things in the past you wish to eliminate.

COMMENT: We probably all have done things in the past we wish we hadn’t done. Focusing on these things wastes our energy for moving forward into the future. Let your dreams tell you which issues, if any, in the past require attention. Usually the only events in the past that require attention are ones where a negative pattern of thinking was adopted. Michael’s next step is to leave the past where it is and face the future with joy and hope.

RENE’S DREAM: I am flying. I either just jump up in the air, to get to the other end of the room, and I keep going and I'm flying. I seem to be able to keep flying to where I want to. In another form of this dream I just raise myself up somehow and am flying around where I want to go. Sometimes I am swimming through the air, at others I'm just standing upward floating through the air to where I want to go.

INTERPRETATION: You have the ability to project your mind (flying). This manifests as a very strong intellect and makes for a very persuasive person. In a spiritual sense mind projection brings three abilities. You can hypnotize others, perform absent healing and project messages.

COMMENT: Renes’s next step is to accept she has these abilities. We are all familiar with hypnosis so it requires no further explanation. However, I’m sure I need to explain the other two. Absent healing is where you heal somebody without being physically in their presence. Today we accept that our minds affect our health. With absent healing you project your mind onto another. While doing this, your thoughts of the person’s body being restored to health causes their body to respond. How to do this will be described in a future issue.

Thought projection is not as common today as it used to be. This is the spiritual equivalent of the town crier shouting his message for all to hear. An old American Indian when asked the secret of smoke signals explained it this way. In daily life members of the tribe could be scattered around doing different things. When the whole tribe needed to be informed of something a person with the gift of projecting their mind would take the message to a high point. Once there he would send up the smoke. Tribe members knew when they saw the smoke, to tune into the thoughts that were being projecting from that point.

STACIE’S DREAM: I own a load of elephants in an orphanage for elephants. I look after them. Sometimes they fly around the place.

INTERPRETATION: You are very sensitive but pretend to have a thick skin (elephants). You adopted this pattern as a result of not feeling wanted (orphanage). This feeling of hurt also caused you to become intellectual (flying). You tend to rationalize rather than follow your feelings. Show your feelings more. Develop a passion for something.

COMMENT: This dream is elegant in its simplicity and creativity. I always enjoy how such a short dream can reveal so much. The dream does this because Stacie is the opposite in reality. You could be around her for a long time and not get a know any of her deeper feelings. This is a common reaction when, as a child, we are born into an environment where we don’t feel welcomed. The trend I have seen through regressions is that the child in question cannot understand why they are not loved but they cannot express their hurt (can’t articulate). This feeling of hurt is pervasive until almost the third year. At this point the hurt turns to anger and an emotional barrier is erected around the child where the hurt and the anger meet. The child moves its center of operating from the heart to the head to quell further feelings that can lead to hurt and pain. The child’s rationale is along the lines of ‘If I don’t reveal myself to you – you cant reject me’. This, however, dampens all feelings including joy for life. Stacie’s next step is to begin breaking down this wall and showing her feelings.
