The Answer to your Dreams 1

Each morning I wake to the sound of my two-year-old daughter singing in the next room. When I pick her up she is full of excitement at the prospect of another beautiful day on the planet. Adults tend to have lost touch with that feeling, but it can be reclaimed. The solution is simply to put back into place the things that are vital to the enjoyment of life that were dropped over the years. This can take time, but each step taken, literally adds wonders to life and the only advice needed is your own! It is ironic that at night, when you let go of reality, your dreams try to awaken you to what you are overlooking. The choice is yours to restore the magic to your life by listening to your dreams.

Dreams take it easy, focusing on the most important step at the present time. This could be how to restore your health, improve your relationship or career, or simply telling you what you need to accept about yourself. The first step, as with any journey, is always about finding out where you are. Dreams show you this and map your journey to where you need to be. The key to unlocking dreams is through understanding the symbols on the map. Let's look at some readers' dreams to help explain this. The comments point out the next step to be taken for each dreamer.

HEIDI'S DREAM: Thrown by a very huge ocean wave I found myself high up in the air above the gray ocean. I could hear some familiar voice: "Jump into the water and swim!" I jumped into the water, or fell down, and started to swim towards the shore. While swimming I realized that I could not feel the bottom and it scared me, but I kept swimming. The shore was very far away. I checked for the bottom and touched very soft sand. I felt some relief and continued swimming. Now I could see the shore.

INTERPRETATION: A strong emotional event (huge wave) in life (ocean) has caused you to ignore your heart, become intellectual (high in the air), with a resulting lack of commitment to life (gray ocean). The voice is asking you to get back into life (jump into the water) and participate (swim). You have some work to do (shore is far away) but a soft approach (soft sand) will get you there (seeing the shore).

COMMENT: Our hearts need passion to stay balanced and healthy. Heidi's step is to listen to her heart more. Here's an easy method for doing this. When you have a decision to make - don't rationalize! Imagine yourself having already made the decision. How do you feel? Now imagine yourself having decided a different way. How do you feel? Go with the decision that feels best because that's how you will feel when the confusion disappears.

JANE'S DREAM: I was in a well-lit house but upstairs was in total darkness. I saw an old woman, with her hair tied in a bun, looking at me. The woman turned around and went upstairs.

INTERPRETATION: Your mother (the old woman), although deceased, still affects how you think (hair tied up). You feel that your mother turned her back on you (as the woman did in the dream) and need to deal with this to avoid experiencing depression (total darkness upstairs).

COMMENT: We create our reality based on how we persistently think, and attract people and circumstances to us in line with these thoughts. If we believe strongly enough that the world will fall down around us - it will. Jane needs to accept that she adopted this philosophy of life from her mother and must undo that. Nothing else will free her. Jane's step is to break free from her mother. A suitable therapy for this called 'Cutting the Ties That Bind' will be explained in a later issue.

FRANK'S DREAM: Having failed to get money from a bank machine my wife and I decided to continue on to our destination. We were driving down narrow and winding roads, when we approached an intersection with a choice of continuing on or turning right. I had a map and I knew that to turn right would take us to the garden of paradise.

INTERPRETATION: You haven't been putting your heart (failure at bank machine) into your relationship and it is now suffering (state of road). You have to make a difficult choice (intersection ahead) to either stay as you are (keep traveling the road you're on) or make dramatic changes (90 degree turn). Through understanding where you are (holding a map) you will make the right changes (take the right turn) to bring the relationship to a perfect place (garden of paradise).

COMMENT: A man's first female relationship is with mother as a child. If this doesn't fare well, the resulting lack of understanding of feelings makes relationships prone to failure. A section of Frank's dream that I omitted here for space reasons showed that he fell victim to this. Frank's next step is to break free from his mother so that he can be absolutely certain of where his relationship is. This will allow him to make the right changes to improve it.

JOHN'S DREAM: I was heading into a meeting where I didn't think I had much chance of success as there were people conspiring against me. I was preparing for the meeting outside the building and telling a tall person about the conspirators. He said not to worry about it, that everything was under control and he pointed to a rocket with a red and white lattice frame. At the base of the rocket two head honchos were adjusting big dials.

INTERPRETATION: As the person in the dream says - You don't need to worry about your meeting. Remain hopeful and confident (red and white) in the meeting as senior people (head honchos) will make adjustments to turn it in your favor.

COMMENT: John has already done the necessary work as the dream shows things going in his favor despite attempts of others to thwart him. John's next step is to remain confident regardless of how bleak things look.
