Dream: Cleaning the Boiler

I came down stairs and turned up the thermostat in the living room. I then went into the kitchen and was looking out the back window. Then I heard a sort of whiz click sound 3 times. I looked for where the sound was coming from. Then I realized that my wife had dismantled our gas furnace and was cleaning it. (She was in bed when I turned the thermostat up). Parts of it were on the kitchen floor ready for cleaning and reassemble. A large cylinder part was already cleaned (old brass color) and was back in place. The top part of the cylinder was also back in place (this was more like a copper color). The sound was the furnace trying to light. In a panic I tried to rush to the living room to turn the thermostat down. My wife blocked my way (inadvertently) but I eventually got past. I rushed to the thermostat and turned it down. I came back to the kitchen and told her, "You nearly killed me!"

Interpretation

Coming downstairs is a good start to this dream and indicates getting into your feelings. Once you have done this you turned up the thermostat which will activate the boiler (heart). Again this is good. The problem here is that your wife has taken the furnace apart to clean it. This reflects the work you are doing on yourself on cutting the ties with mom. Here you can see that on a subconscious level your female side is being healed. Your female side is being developed (cleaning the heart) and this will help your channeling gift (cylinder). Unfortunately from here on you spoil the dream. You run to shut off the thermostat, thus reducing the passion (flame) in my heart. You also blame you female side for causing the problem.

Although I focus on feelings / passion in the heart you need to watch your dreams for continued indicators of circulatory problems. The fact that emphasis is being placed on cleaning a physical system indicates that your heart is in need of attention. If you continue through with the process of cutting the ties with your mother this problem will right itself.

Dreamer's Comment on the Interpretation

I did continue with cutting the ties and two weeks after the end of it my dreams changed dramatically. I no longer dream of my heart all the time and emphasis shifted to my dad's side of the family!
